What It Checks
The validator checks comma-separated Shopify product files. It accepts current headers such as URL handle, SKU, and Price, plus older headers such as Handle, Variant SKU, and Variant Price.

| Prices and inventory | Currency symbols in price cells, invalid numbers, unsupported inventory policies, and missing related fields. |
| Images | Invalid URL formats and image positions. Image URLs are not opened by the tool. |
| Update risks | Missing variant columns and blank cells that can clear existing store values. |
Errors need correction. Warnings need review. For example, two products can share a SKU intentionally. The tool reports this as a warning and keeps both rows.
How to Fix Your File
- Select New products or Updates to existing products. The required columns depend on your choice.
- Choose your CSV file or paste its text. You can try an example first.
- Read the errors and warnings. Each issue includes a row number and a suggested action.
- Download the report if you need a checklist for your spreadsheet editor.
- Correct your original file, then check it again. Review Shopify's import preview before import.
The report is a checklist. Your original CSV is not changed. Report values are protected against spreadsheet formulas and are shortened to 200 characters where needed.
Import Limits
This tool accepts UTF-8 CSV files up to 10 MB, 20,000 data rows, and 150 columns. These are limits for this tool. If it finds more than 2,000 issues, the counts include all detected issues, but the screen and report show the first 2,000. Fix those issues and check again.
Shopify supports up to 2,048 variants per product and three options. The tool warns above 100 variant rows because some themes and apps have lower limits. It does not treat 101 variants as a Shopify import error. See Shopify's variant guide.
The validator checks the contents of the file. It cannot check your live store, metafield definitions, product references, product categories against the full taxonomy, remote image availability, or daily import limits. It does not validate inventory, customer, or order CSV formats. For updates, keep a fresh backup and test a small batch first.
