Free shipping progress bar by Shopify Market

Show the correct local free-shipping goal instead of one global threshold for every shopper.

Try market-specific examples

Select the United States, Malaysia, or the United Kingdom. Each example has a different currency, goal value, and sample cart. Add or remove products to see the eligible subtotal, full cart total, remaining amount, and completed state. The gift card and digital guide do not count toward progress because they are outside the selected product collections. The thresholds are examples only. Use your store's order, margin, shipping, and market data before you publish a goal.

Quick answer

A market-specific free shipping progress bar shows a suitable goal to shoppers in a selected Shopify Market. It is useful when a store has different shipping costs, currencies, or free-shipping rules by region. A shopper in Malaysia can see an MYR goal while a shopper in the United Kingdom can see a GBP goal.

BlueCart can limit campaign display to selected Shopify Markets. It can also use custom goal values for selected countries or convert a base goal to the shopper's currency. BlueCart shows the progress message. It does not create the Shopify shipping rate, read the free-shipping threshold from Shopify, or apply free shipping at checkout. The visible goal and the Shopify shipping rule must agree.

Use the general free shipping progress bar builder if every market uses one goal. Use this page when the offer changes by market, country, or local currency.

How are market, country, and currency different?

These three controls are related, but they do different jobs.

ControlMain job
Shopify MarketGroups one or more countries for pricing and selling settings
Country goalGives a selected country a custom BlueCart goal value
Display conditionDecides whether the BlueCart campaign appears in a selected market
Currency settingControls how BlueCart shows or converts the goal amount
Shopify rateDecides whether the order gets free shipping during checkout

A market can contain more than one country. These countries can share a currency, or they can need different goal values. Do not assume that one market name always equals one country or one shipping zone. Check the countries in the market and the shipping profile that applies to each order.

For example, you can show one campaign only in the United Kingdom market and set a £60 goal. You can use another campaign for the Malaysia market and set an RM350 goal. If one market contains several countries with different costs, use country-specific goals or separate campaigns where this gives shoppers a clearer result.

What if some cart products do not count?

BlueCart can count only products from selected collections. This is useful when the reward applies to a defined product group and some cart items must not move the progress bar.

The interactive sample shows two eligible products and two excluded products: a gift card and a digital guide. The full cart total can pass the free-shipping goal while the eligible subtotal stays below it. Adding more gift cards or digital guides changes the cart total, but it does not change the progress message. Adding an eligible shirt or tote changes both the eligible subtotal and the progress bar.

The actual shipping or discount rule must use the same product eligibility. If the Shopify rule counts an item that BlueCart excludes, or excludes an item that BlueCart counts, the storefront message and checkout result can be different. If the rule cannot use the same eligibility, do not use this counting condition for that reward.

How do you align BlueCart and Shopify?

Treat the storefront message and the checkout rule as one pair:

  1. Choose the market and eligible countries.
  2. Define which products count toward the goal.
  3. Create the free-shipping rule in Shopify.
  4. Record its exact threshold, currency, and product eligibility.
  5. Set the same goal value in BlueCart.
  6. Set the BlueCart display condition for the selected Shopify Market.
  7. Select the product collections that count toward progress.
  8. Test a cart below, at, and above the threshold.
  9. Confirm the shipping rate at checkout for an address in the selected country.

If Shopify gives free shipping at £60 but the BlueCart goal says £65, the shopper gets conflicting information. If BlueCart says “Free shipping unlocked” but the checkout address does not qualify, the campaign can reduce trust. Test the real checkout result. A completed bar is not proof that Shopify applied the shipping rate.

Should you convert one goal or set custom goals?

Automatic conversion is useful when the business wants one base goal and Shopify uses converted local prices. BlueCart can convert the goal to the shopper's currency. This method is easy to maintain, but an exchange-rate conversion does not include every local shipping cost or margin difference.

Use a custom country goal when Shopify has a manual local threshold. For example, a direct conversion of a $75 goal can produce an uncommon local amount. A planned local value, such as RM350, can be easier to state and can match a fixed Shopify shipping rule. Use the same custom value in the campaign and the shipping setup.

Review each goal after a large currency change, a carrier price change, a margin change, or an update to a shipping profile. The BlueCart multi-currency and market guide gives the in-app setup steps for currency conversion, country goals, and market display rules.

How do you set it up?

  1. List the Shopify Markets that need a free-shipping campaign.
  2. Check the countries, currencies, shipping profiles, and current thresholds.
  3. Decide whether each market needs automatic conversion or a custom country goal.
  4. Create and test the matching free-shipping rate in Shopify.
  5. Create the campaign in BlueCart.
  6. Add the goal message and exact threshold.
  7. Select the required Shopify Markets in the BlueCart display conditions.
  8. Select the product collections that count toward the goal, if required.
  9. Place the progress bar in the cart drawer, cart page, or another suitable theme location.
  10. Test eligible and excluded products in each market.
  11. Test each market with a suitable country address and currency.
  12. Publish only after the progress message and checkout result agree.

Keep the first version small. Start with the markets that have the most orders or the largest difference in shipping costs. You do not need a separate public page or campaign for every country if several countries use the same rule.

Common mistakes

  • Using the same number in USD, MYR, and GBP without a conversion or custom goal.
  • Changing the BlueCart value without changing the Shopify shipping rule.
  • Using automatic conversion when Shopify has a fixed manual local threshold.
  • Treating a Shopify Market, a country, and a shipping zone as the same item.
  • Testing only the progress bar and not the shipping rate at checkout.
  • Forgetting excluded products, customer rules, discounts, or other conditions that affect the order.
  • Adding many market campaigns before the store has enough order data to maintain them.

What should you measure?

Measure each important market separately. Track average order value, the share of orders that reach the goal, shipping cost per order, gross margin per order, conversion rate, and checkout exits. Also record support questions about free shipping. A high number of questions can show that the message and the shipping rule do not agree.

Change one main item at a time, such as the goal, message, placement, or eligible market. Compare the result for a defined period. Stop or revise a campaign if shipping cost grows faster than order profit, if the goal is rarely reached, or if shoppers see a different result at checkout.

Give each important market a clear shipping goal

Use BlueCart to show the matching local goal after you create and test the free-shipping rule in Shopify.
