Product Comparison Setup Guide

A product comparison matrix helps buyers compare the same attributes across a small range. This table uses one row per model and columns for capacity, weight, size, and included accessories. Use Table Master when your comparison data already lives in a spreadsheet reference.

Try the storefront example

Sort by Empty weight g to compare the models from lightest to heaviest. Use the column headers to compare capacity, weight, packed size, and included parts.

Theme presets

These presets are available in Table Master. Changes apply to this example only.

Use these settings in your store

Open your table view, then select Design.

  • Table colors → Design template: Ocean blue.
  • Cell padding: set Top, Bottom, Left, and Right to 8 px.
  • Table style → Text alignment: Left.
  • Table style → Rounded corners: Medium (6px).

Save the table view. Check it in your theme. Your theme controls the font and available width.

This example uses Table Master storefront code with sample data and the settings below. Your theme’s fonts and available width can change the result. Example links show their destination; purchase controls use a sample cart. Use the checks below to confirm the finished setup in your store.

Build it in Table Master

  1. In Table Master, create a database from Google Sheets or a spreadsheet file. Put the headings below in the first row and one record on each following row. Import only public storefront data.
  2. Create a table view from that database. In Column type, set text identifiers to String. Set measurements and amounts to Number. Keep each unit in its heading.
  3. Use Number for capacity, weight, and packed height. Keep units in the headings.
  4. Keep one model per row in the standard table. Use clear feature headings so shoppers can compare the same attribute across models.
  5. Use the standard table view for search, sorting, and pagination. Table Master’s transposed display shows one source record; it does not add a shopper layout switch.
  6. Save and publish the table view. Open the target page template in the theme editor. Add the Table Master app block and choose the table view. Save the theme and test the public page.

Example settings

  • The starting design is Ocean blue with 8 px padding, left-aligned text, and Medium (6 px) rounded corners. In Design, choose Ocean blue under Table colors → Design template. Set all four Cell padding values to 8. Under Table style, choose Left for Text alignment and Medium (6px) for Rounded corners. Try the other presets and corner sizes above; Reset example restores this starting design.
  • This example uses a standard table with Responsive table enabled and row borders. On phones, use the row control to read columns that do not fit. Use the starting design above before you compare the result.

Which attributes belong in a product comparison table?

Choose attributes that affect a buying decision. A large table full of repeated yes values adds little help. Use consistent units and separate unknown information from a confirmed no. TableFlow is another option when you want product-page specification and comparison data based on metafields.

  1. Select a coherent product range and the questions buyers ask when comparing it. Remove decorative attributes that do not aid choice.
  2. Replace the sample model data using the same unit and measurement method for every row.
  3. Import the spreadsheet and enable numeric sorting for capacity and weight. Keep the model name visible while customers read the attributes.
  4. Add correct product links through your table setup if needed. Keep a short explanation of the compared range above the table.

Read the Table Master setup guide for the full app controls and placement options.

Check the finished setup

  • Compare the accessory column with the actual box contents for each model.
  • Check that numeric sorting places 1100 after 780 instead of treating the values as text.
  • Read one row alone and confirm that its units remain clear without another product as context.

Common mistakes

  • Do not label a model best unless you explain a real criterion and the evidence for it.
  • Do not use blank data to imply that a product lacks a feature.

Supported use

These examples contain reference data. They do not create Shopify products, stock, prices, shipping rules, or cart controls. Use the Shopify product import workflow when you need product and variant cart controls. Spreadsheet data changes when you import or sync it. Check the source before you use it as an inventory reference.

Table Master features, current app plans, and Table Master data sources explain the supported setup.
